By entering, using, or participating in any activity within this workshop, you acknowledge and agree to the terms set out on this page.
1. Assumption of Risk
The Community Workshop contains tools, equipment, machinery, electrical systems, lasers, and materials that may pose risks, including but not limited to:
- Cuts, burns, eye injuries, electrical shock
- Exposure to dust, fumes, noise, heat, or moving parts
- Damage to personal property
You understand and accept that participation is voluntary and that all activities are undertaken at your own risk.
2. Indemnity & Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted under Singapore law, you agree to:
- Indemnify and hold harmless EDR², its operators, volunteers, partners, landlords, sponsors, and representatives from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, or expenses arising from:
- Your use of the workshop
- Your participation in activities or workshops
- Your failure to follow instructions, safety rules, or warnings
EDR² shall not be liable for any injury, loss, damage, or death arising from workshop use, except where required by law.
3. Personal Responsibility
You acknowledge that:
- You are responsible for assessing your own physical and mental fitness to participate
- You must seek clarification or assistance if you are unsure how to use any equipment
- You must not operate equipment you are not trained or authorised to use
If you have medical conditions that may be affected by physical activity, tools, noise, or light exposure, you should consult a medical professional before participating.
4. Safety Rules & Compliance
All users must comply with workshop safety requirements, including but not limited to:
- Wearing covered shoes at all times
- Using personal protective equipment (PPE) when required
- Securing loose clothing, hair, and accessories
- Following staff and volunteer instructions at all times
- Using only EDR²-approved materials for machines (e.g. laser cutters, CNC, soldering)
Failure to comply may result in immediate suspension of access.
5. Equipment & Training
- Certain tools and machines require prior training or approval
- Training does not guarantee permanent access
- EDR² reserves the right to revoke access at any time for safety reasons
You agree not to modify, bypass, or disable safety features on any equipment.
6. Property & Personal Belongings
- You are responsible for your own tools, projects, and belongings
- EDR² is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property
- Overnight storage of projects or materials is not allowed without approval
7. Photography, Video & Media
By entering the workshop, you consent to:
- Photography or video recording for documentation, education, or publicity
- Use of such media by EDR² for non-commercial promotional purposes
If you have concerns, please inform staff before participation.
8. Minors
- Minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian unless explicitly approved
- Parents/guardians accept full responsibility and liability for minors under their care
9. No Professional Advice
Information, demonstrations, or assistance provided in the workshop are for educational purposes only and do not constitute professional engineering, electrical, medical, or safety advice.
10. Right to Refuse Access
EDR² reserves the right to:
- Refuse entry or participation
- Remove individuals who behave unsafely or disruptively
- Suspend or revoke access without notice for safety or operational reasons
11. Governing Law
This disclaimer is governed by the laws of Singapore.
12. Acknowledgement
By checking in, registering, or participating in any activity at EDR², you confirm that:
- You have read and understood this Indemnity, Liability Disclaimer & Safety Notice
- You agree to be bound by its terms
